Albert Botha Ashburton Investments

Albert Botha is the Head of Fixed Income at Ashburton Investments since 2017. With almost two decades of experience in financial markets, he manages the Fixed Income team and the investment process. He is responsible for several portfolios across various asset classes in the emerging and developed markets space. During his tenure, the fixed income business has grown more than tenfold to almost R60bn. Albert holds a BCom degree (Stellenbosch) and is an Associate Actuary (AIA).  He enjoys reading, cooking, and savouring a good meal paired with a great bottle of wine. Curiosity has always been a core trait of his personality and he loves learning things, whether is it new ideas in portfolio management or how whisky is made.  Albert has been married for over a decade and new and interesting gadgets are his weakness.  His wife has banned him from buying new books, so his Kindle gets used frequently.

Jarred Sullivan Ashburton Investments

Jarred joined Ashburton Investments near the end of 2020 from FNB where he was an economist. As a multi-asset expert, he has a wide range of expertise including equities, fixed income, currency, cash reserves, global and local outlooks. Owing to his in-depth global and local macro-economic research, has published multiple economic articles. He also sat on the FirstRand Macro Forum Committee to formulate the house view and worked closely with the FNB Wealth and Investment team. Jarred began his career as a Financial Services Sector Analyst at Genesis Analytics in 2015. He holds a Master of Science degree in Economics from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and is a CFA charterholder. Recently, he also obtained a Certification in Quantitative Finance (CQF). 

Wayne McCurrie Ashburton Investments

Wayne McCurrie joined Ashburton Investments in October 2016 as a Fund Manager. Prior to that he was a Senior Portfolio Manager at Momentum Asset Management where he was responsible for managing the Momentum funds and various retirement fund portfolios. He started his career in the financial industry in 1988, when he joined Lifegro Limited as a Management Accountant. In 2002, Wayne joined Sage.
He re-joined the FirstRand Group in 2004 as Managing Director of Momentum International Multi-Managers. Wayne serves as Non-Executive Director of Strategic Real Estate Managers (Pty) Limited, Manager of Emira Property Fund since 10 December 2008. He holds a BCompt (Hons) degree and is a CA (SA).

Murray Anderson Ashburton Investments

Murray Anderson is the Managing Director for our Retail Business and is responsible for the distribution and client engagement at Ashburton. Murray joined Ashburton Investments as a result of the acquisition of Atlantic Asset Management in 2016. Previously, he was the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Atlantic. Prior to Atlantic he held a number of senior distribution and marketing positions at Cadiz African Harvest, Old Mutual Asset Managers as well as RMB Asset Management and has served the industry in on a number of committees of the Association for Savings and Investment of South Africa over the years. He holds a B.Com Financial Management degree as well as a graduate diploma from the IMM and is a Certified Financial Planner.
