Tshepo Shabalala Ashburton Investments

Tshepo qualified as a chartered accountant in 2014. He completed his articles in the financial services division of PwC (2012 to 2014) and got exposure that ranged from central bank, asset finance, private equity and investment holdings companies. He was seconded to PwC New York from January 2015 to March 2015 in the insurance division.

He joined RMB through the RMB (CA)reers programme in May 2015, with his rotations generally in finance. He joined the credit team in March 2016 after spending sometime in the Ashburton Investments’ finance team from November 2015.

Isaah Mhlanga Ashburton Investments

Isaah Mhlanga is the Chief Economist and Head of Research at Rand Merchant Bank. He leads the RMB Markets Research team covering macroeconomics, fixed income, currencies and credit, for South Africa and several African countries, the UK, India, and the US, to serve the bank, institutional and corporate clients.  

Steven Amey Ashburton Investments

Steven Amey is the Head of Retail Distribution at Ashburton Investments, servicing intermediaries.  He has over 22 years of experience in the financial services industry. He is a distribution expert, who has worked in asset management, asset consulting, short-term insurance, healthcare and financial planning. Prior to joining Ashburton, Steven was an executive and Head of Sales and Distribution at Discovery Invest,  and previously worked at Sasfin, Ninety One and Glacier. Steven holds a BCom Honours in Investment Management and an MCom in Tax. He is also a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). Steven loves sport and has completed several IRONMAN events, most notably competing at the 70.3 world champs in France and finishing two Comrades marathons. He is happily married and has two beautiful children.

Kathy Davey Ashburton Investments

Kathy covers global equities for Ashburton’s International team. She joined the team in South Africa in 2013 as an Equity Research Analyst for the African Equity Opportunities Fund, having moved home from the UK in 2010. Kathy has experience covering listed Pan-European retail stocks and South African listed retail sector. Kathy holds a Bachelor of Commerce (IT and accounting) degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, a Masters of Professional Accounting from the University of Southern Queensland, and is a CFA charterholder.

Lesiba Ledwaba Ashburton Investments

Lesiba Ledwaba is the Head of Property Fund Management at Ashburton Investments. His career started at BJM Private Clients Securities in 2004 as a trainee on the equity dealing desk after undergoing an Umsobomvu Youth Fund internship and training at Investec Private Client Securities. In 2006 he joined BJM Asset Management as a Research Assistant and subsequently a Portfolio Manager within the team. He joined the RMB Private Bank portfolio management team in 2011 following the acquisition of BJM Private Clients Services by First National Bank.

Tlhoni Komako Ashburton Investments

Tlhoni Komako is a Fixed Income Portfolio Manager at Ashburton Investments since 2021. He has almost a decade's experience in the asset management industry. Prior to joining Ashburton, he was a Portfolio Manager at Old Mutual Investment Group and managed bespoke inflation-linked and nominal bond portfolios. He started his career as an independent consultant assisting individuals and small businesses to achieve their financial goals. Tlhoni holds a BCom in Statistics, a BSc (Honours) in Statistics (cum laude) and various certificates from The South African Institute of Financial Markets. He is a proud father and enjoys playing Lego with his son. Tlhoni is a foodie and a keen golfer, who spends his weekends either looking for his lost golf ball on the course or out and about with his family. 

Daniel Masvosvere Ashburton Investments

Daniel Masvosvere is an Equity Portfolio Manager at Ashburton Investments. He co-manages the flagship Ashburton Equity Fund and Ashburton Namibia Equity Fund while also maintaining research coverage across multiple sectors. He joined Ashburton in 2021 as a Senior Equity Analyst before being promoted to his current role.  He has 10 years of experience working in listed and unlisted equity markets. He is a CFA Charterholder, has an LLB, a Master’s in Mercantile Law and a Master’s in Finance and Law. Technical consistency in the area of company valuation is one of his job-related passions. While away from the office, his family and faith are his central passions.

Jarred Sullivan Ashburton Investments

Jarred joined Ashburton Investments near the end of 2020 from FNB where he was an economist. As a multi-asset expert, he has a wide range of expertise including equities, fixed income, currency, cash reserves, global and local outlooks. Owing to his in-depth global and local macro-economic research, has published multiple economic articles. He also sat on the FirstRand Macro Forum Committee to formulate the house view and worked closely with the FNB Wealth and Investment team. Jarred began his career as a Financial Services Sector Analyst at Genesis Analytics in 2015. He holds a Master of Science degree in Economics from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and is a CFA charterholder. Recently, he also obtained a Certification in Quantitative Finance (CQF).
