Proud partner in the Kwata Cricket Development programme

Ashburton Investments Namibia is proud to support the Kwata Cricket Development Programme, an ICC award-winning initiative established by Cricket Namibia in 2009 to promote cricket and encourage healthy, active lifestyles among young people in underserved communities across Namibia.

Since its inception, the programme has expanded to all 14 regions of Namibia, creating opportunities for thousands of children to participate in sport, develop life skills, and build brighter futures. Through a dedicated network of 15 full-time development coaches, four street cricket coaches, and 25 relief teachers, the programme had reached 138,384 children nationwide by the end of 2023. The impact of Kwata Cricket extends far beyond the boundary ropes. By developing young talent from grassroots level, the programme has contributed to Namibia's growing success on the international cricket stage. Most notably, the initiative forms part of the broader cricket development pathway that has helped nurture young players capable of competing at elite levels, including representing Namibia at the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

Recognising the transformative power of sport, Ashburton Investments Namibia, through the FirstRand Foundation Trust, has committed a further N$800,000 to the programme for 2024 and 2025. This continued investment reflects our commitment to empowering young people, creating opportunities, and fostering sustainable community development. By supporting the Kwata Cricket Development Programme, we are helping to build stronger communities, inspire future generations, and create pathways for young Namibians to succeed both on and off the field. It is another way we remain Fully Invested in the Future of Namibia's youth.
