FirstRand Volunteers Programme

The FirstRand Foundation provides annual funding to the FirstRand Volunteers Programme (FRVP), which is a Group-wide initiative that promotes employee activity in the communities where FirstRand operates. Employees are encouraged to contribute their time, energy and money to community development initiatives, in order to fulfil the FRVP's goal of helping people to help themselves.

Some of the projects that the FRVP supports include:

  • CAF Southern Africa
  • Stop Hunger Now
  • Emthonjeni Community Centre
  • Berea Hillbrow Home of Hope
  • Dreamfields School Soccer Project
  • Cell C Take a Girl Child to Work Day
  • Tracker Men in the Making Day
  • Rally to Read

Ashburton Investments’ staff actively participate in community development initiatives as part of the FirstRand Volunteers Programme, including providing mentorship for the Cell C Take a Girl Child to Work Day and the Tracker Men in the Making Day; the Dreamfields School Soccer Project, and the Rally to Read programme.

We support Qhubeka through our sponsorship of the Ashburton Investments National Mountain Biking Series. Qhubeka helps people move forward and progress by giving bicycles in return for work done to improve communities, the environment or academic results.

Having a bicycle changes lives by increasing the distance people can travel, what they can carry, where they can go and how fast they can get there.
