An informative session with Murray Anderson, Financial Advisory CEO, and Albert Botha, Head of Fixed Income, we discussed all things fixed income as well the current economic climate. The positioning and purpose of the Ashburton Money Market Fund, Ashburton Stable Income Fund and Ashburton SA Income Fund were all discussed in detail. There was also an open discussion on Ukraine and its effect on the global economy, the issue of inflation worldwide and South Africa’s position in relation to interest rates in the US.

About

Albert Botha is the Head of Fixed Income at Ashburton Investments since 2017. With almost two decades of experience in financial markets, he manages the Fixed Income team and the investment process. He is responsible for several portfolios across various asset classes in the emerging and developed markets space. During his tenure, the fixed income business has grown more than tenfold to almost R60bn. Albert holds a BCom degree (Stellenbosch) and is an Associate Actuary (AIA).  He enjoys reading, cooking, and savouring a good meal paired with a great bottle of wine. Curiosity has always been a core trait of his personality and he loves learning things, whether is it new ideas in portfolio management or how whisky is made.  Albert has been married for over a decade and new and interesting gadgets are his weakness.  His wife has banned him from buying new books, so his Kindle gets used frequently.
