Responsible investing

The macro environment drives asset prices and, as such, Ashburton Investments macro-thematic investment philosophy is focused on identifying structural shifts and fundamental imbalances within markets, the economy and in broader society.

We act on these views by constructing diversified portfolios with quality assets, such that while solving for many of our greatest challenges, we identify the best risk-adjusted returns across a range of investment opportunities.

We consider a wide range of factors that may affect the risk and return profile of the investments we make, now and in the future. Our long-term success is not measured in investment performance alone, but also on the contribution it makes to society and the environment.

It is in this light that we are committed to proactively seek and implement the best practices to ensure development, for the Group, the broader investment community and society. The major principles and measurement metrics of development fall in the ambit of governance, social and environmental challenges.

Ashburton Investments actively participates in Association for Savings and Investment South Africa (ASISA) Responsible Investing sub-committee, and endorses the Codes for Responsible Investing South Africa (CRISA). We are also a signatory to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI).
