Job Title: Senior Portfolio Manager

Reporting to: Head of Global Equities 


Purpose of the role:

This is a senior role within our Discretionary Portfolio Management Team.

The primary purpose of this role is:

• to manage and service an existing book of HNW/UHNW client portfolios across our discretionary and execution only offering, 
• develop future business growth opportunities across the Channel Islands and relevant jurisdictions (Travel will be required across mainly Channel Islands and Sub Saharan Africa)

The role will also encompass producing client proposals and fund and client portfolio performance statistics, in addition to other relevant reporting, as required by the business and regulation.

Whilst trading will be covered by the Dealing Desk the role holder will be required to place FX trades via the Bloomberg trading platform with our custodian and CIS trades though the custodians FDS platform and also be able to cover the Dealing Desk on a BCP basis should the need arise.  

Key Responsibilities

• Annual team appraisal review and agreement of KPIs (where required)

• Periodic monitoring of client portfolios for asset variances against underlying model.

• Rebalancing client portfolios to underlying model following asset allocation/currency target changes; cash additions or redemptions; periodic rebalancing activity.

• Comply with all investment restrictions specified in portfolio mandates.

• Monitor daily cash management and FX position of client portfolios and action where appropriate.

• Monitor and roll Forward FX currency hedges for client portfolios in line with current policy.

• Maintenance and update of client asset and currency models.

• Dealing with both internal and external clients covering off on issues relating to administration of the client portfolios.

• Trade placement of CIS trades for client portfolios.

• Trade placement of CIS trades for Offshore Advisory clients.

• Prepare and deliver proposals and presentations to prospective clients. 
• Provision of ad-hoc requests client portfolio performance statistics, and other reporting, as required.

• Manage client relationships effectively and efficiently to ensure service standards are maintained. 

• Meet agreed business growth targets, (AUM and revenue growth), as stated in annual KPIs.

• Provision of Management Information to various committees and boards.

• Ownership of business systems including: Trade Order Management and Compliance system, Data Warehouse Departmental Reporting, Morningstar.

• Ensure reporting and investment communication is provided in a timely manner as required to clients both internal and external.

• Must be able to establish credibility with investors and stakeholders at appropriate representative level.

• Remain up to date with and adhere to all regulatory, legislative and governance requirements as required in the jurisdiction in which this role functions.

Secondary and Support responsibilities:

• Work with Investment Support Team to ensure completion of trade flows.

• Any additional required activity associated to trade life cycle.

• Maintenance of broker commissions, markets fees, tax payable on order management system.

• Provision of ad-hoc requests for AJL fund performance statistics, and other reporting, as required.

• Periodic and ad hoc report collation and provision to relevant internal committees.

• Departmental ad hoc task and project work as directed by the Head of Global Equities.

Necessary Experience & Qualities:

• Minimum level 6 qualification.

• Experience of managing a dedicated team of investment professionals would be preferable.

• Previous experience working within a relevant environment of an investment business.

• An excellent knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel, with the ability to learn new systems with appropriate training.

• Experience of Bloomberg and Morningstar would be preferable.

• An ability to prioritise effectively and work under pressure with minimum supervision.

• Be highly articulate and capable of communicating clearly with internal and external parties at all levels.

• The post holder will be well organised, diligent and conscientious, paying attention to detail and accuracy.
