    Boshoff Grobler is the Chief Executive Officer of Ashburton Investments and is responsible for the implementation of the FirstRand Group’s investment management strategy. Boshoff joined RMB in 2000 after providing legal counsel to the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) for three years. During the 16 years with FirstRand, Boshoff has served as a Specialist Transactor and as Executive Director for various capital market vehicles. In 2007, he assumed responsibility for the Debt Capital Markets division on the executive committee, and was appointed to the management board of the Investment Banking division. He graduated cum laude from the University of Pretoria with his BCom degree in Law as well as his LLB. Boshoff also holds an LLM in Banking and Stock Exchange Law from the University of Johannesburg, where he graduated first in his class.

    Murray Anderson is the Chief Commercial Officer of Ashburton Investments and is responsible for global distribution and marketing. Murray joined Ashburton Investments as a result of the acquisition of Atlantic Asset Management by Ashburton Investment Holdings. Previously, he was the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Atlantic. Prior to Atlantic he held a number of senior distribution and marketing positions at Cadiz African Harvest, Old Mutual Asset Managers as well as RMB Asset Management and has served the industry in the past on a number of committees of the Association for Savings and Investment of South Africa. He holds a BCom in Financial Management obtained from Unisa, a Diploma in Marketing from IMM – Institute of Marketing Management and is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP™).

    Duncan Armstrong is the Chief Information Officer at Ashburton Investments. His responsibilities span the depth and breadth of the business with a focus on information technology management. Duncan joined Ashburton Investments in 2012 having been with the FirstRand Group since 2004, where he has gained experience in transactional and investment banking. Duncan graduated with a BEng in Electrical Engineering from the Stellenbosch University and a BEng (Hons) from the University of Pretoria.

    Peter Bourne is a Director of Ashburton (Jersey) Limited and focuses on governance matters and client management alongside the new leadership team.  Peter has extensive experience in the asset management industry, having worked as an investment professional in both private client and institutional businesses within the FirstRand Group since 1987. Prior to moving to Jersey in 2007, Peter was responsible for the Portfolio Management division of the FirstRand Group's Wealth Segment. He holds a B.Com degree in Accounting and Economics from the University of Cape Town.

    Shalin Bhagwan is the Head of Fixed Income and is responsible for risk management solutions for institutional clients including pension funds and insurers. He was previously Head of UK Liability Driven Investments (LDI) for AXA Investment Managers. Prior to AXA, Shalin spent five years as part of the LDI Executive Team at Legal & General Investment Management, where he helped build both the UK and US LDI businesses, working out of London and Chicago. Shalin previously worked as a pensions and investment consultant for Mercer and Aon Hewitt in London. Prior to leaving South Africa in 2003, he was part of the Executive Committee in Sanlam’s pensions business. He is a Fellow of the faculty of actuaries and graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Actuarial Science and Statistics from the University of Cape Town. 

    Stephen Kelso is CEO of Ashburton Investments (International). Prior to joining Ashburton, Steve worked in London, New York and Moscow at a number of high-profile, international financial companies including Old Mutual, Renaissance Capital and KBC Investments. Starting his career at Goldman Sachs in 1996, he has successfully launched and managed two funds with a specialism for trading which enabled him to navigate the Global Financial Crisis for the benefit of his clients. Steve holds an MEng and MA from Cambridge University.

    Justine is responsible for the Human Capital function at Ashburton Investments, with a primary focus on organisational development and design. She joined the FirstRand Group in 2011 before moving to focus on Ashburton Investments in January 2014. Prior to joining the Group her clinical experience started in the psychiatric and criminal environment both locally and in the United Kingdom. She holds a BA (Psych) from the University of the Witwatersrand, BPsych (Honours - Magna Cum Laude) from Midrand Graduate Institute, an MSc from the University of Nottingham, and is a registered member of the HPCSA.

    Segabe Ditodi is the Head of Legal and Compliance for Ashburton Investments. Segabe joined Ashburton Investments in 2012 and has 14 years’ experience in finance, performing legal and compliance advisory roles in the banking, asset management and collective investment schemes industries. Prior to joining the company, he was an Associate Principal at Absa Capital for just over two years. Here he was responsible for rendering compliance advice on alternative asset management business, exchange traded products and retail structured products. He holds a BA (UWC) LLB from Rhodes University, a Diploma in Corporate Law from the University of Johannesburg, a Certificate in Financial Markets from the University of the Witwatersrand and a Certificate in Compliance from the University of Cape Town.

    Jonathan Schiessl is Chief Investment Officer within Ashburton Investments' international investment team and has responsibility for the firm’s global investment fund range and portfolio management services. Schiessl joined Ashburton in 2000 and has 20 years’ experience in the investment industry. Ranked in the top 5 best performing managers for India equity funds globally in the Citywire list published in December 2015, Jonathan, who is also AAA rated by Citywire, is the lead manager for Ashburton’s India Equity Opportunities Fund which, according to Citywire, has achieved 90.8% total return over the past three years, surpassing the 41.3% average return of all managers operating in the sector. Prior to working at Ashburton, he worked for Bank Julius Baer and other financial institutions in London. Jonathan has a Social Science (Hons) degree, specialising in Economics, from the University of Hertfordshire. Upon joining Ashburton, Schiessl was co-lead for the Asia Pacific fund, and then successfully launched the Chindia Equity Fund in 2006, of which he was the lead manager until his promotion to Head of Equities in 2014. 

    Rob Hamer is Head of Alternatives at Ashburton Investments. He joined the Structured Finance division of RMB in 1996. He was appointed Co-Head of Structured Finance in 2003, Co-Head of Debt Capital Markets in 2006 and thereafter Co-Head of the Investment Banking division in 2008. Prior to joining RMB, Rob completed his articles with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was an audit manager. Rob graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand with a BCom (Hons) degree and a Masters of Commerce in Accounting, he has a Higher Diploma in Taxation from the University of Johannesburg, and is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, CA (SA) and ACA (UK).

    Marianna Georgakopoulou is Head of Asset Allocation at Ashburton Investments and is responsible for Multi Asset strategies. Marianna joined Ashburton in 2015 and has 11 years' experience in the finance industry. Prior to her current role, she worked at Goldman Sachs, Tenax Capital and most recently at Pivot Capital in Monaco focussing on global macro investments.
    Marianna graduated from Panteion University, Athens, with a degree Neuroscience and Cognitive Science and from University College, London with a degree in Molecular Biology.

    Rudigor Kleyn is the Asset Origination & Business Development Head at Ashburton Investments. He joined FirstRand Bank's Group Treasury, Third Party Funds, in 2010 which later became Ashburton Investments and has over 20 years’ experience in the finance industry. Prior to this, Rudigor joined RMB in 1999 where he gained extensive portfolio management, product development and distribution experience in various alternative and traditional asset classes in the South African and global markets. Rudigor is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and is a registered Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He completed his articles at KPMG and holds a BCom degree in Accounting from the University of Pretoria. He also holds a BCompt (Hons) degree and CTA from the University of South Africa.

    Navin joined Ashburton Investments as head of institutional distribution in South Africa in March 2015. He has 17 years’ investment experience having worked in various aspects of the value chain of the investment industry, as well as serving on various investment and asset allocation committees. He started his career at UAL Merchant Bank and has subsequently gained a wealth of experience in stock broking, multi management, portfolio management and research. Navin is passionate about investments with a specific interest in the business aspects of investment management. He holds an MBA from the University of the Witwatersrand.

    Bheki Mkhize is the Head of Private Clients within Ashburton Investments. His responsibilities include FNB Securities, share investing, portfolio management and the multi-management businesses. Prior to joining Ashburton Investments, Bheki worked within the Wealth & Investments business in FNB Premium in a COO role. He was also previously the Fund Head for FirstRand’s Vumela Enterprise Development Fund. Bheki completed his articles at Sasol Limited and also worked there as a Finance Manager. He has an honours degree in Accounting from the University of Cape Town and is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.

    Isabella Mnisi is the Head of Product Development and Strategy for Alternative Investments.  She is a member of the Ashburton Investments Private Equity Investment Committee and has been instrumental in the establishment of Ashburton Investments’ unlisted credit, real estate and infrastructure businesses. Isabella has over 15 years’ experience in the banking and investment management industry. Prior to joining Ashburton Investments, Isabella worked for RMB, Absa Capital and DBSA specialising in fields such as structured finance, credit analysis, project finance, debt capital markets, coverage and interest rates, and derivatives structuring. She is a CFA charterholder and also holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Advanced Mathematics of Finance from the University of the Witwatersrand and a Masters in Commerce from the University of Johannesburg. 

    Nicholas Lee is Ashburton’s Director of Portfolio Management Services. Nick joined Ashburton in 1988 and has 34 years’ experience in the investment industry. Nick’s responsibilities reflect the breadth and depth of his experience, which he will now focus primarily on private client portfolio management. Nick, together with the team, is also responsible for Ashburton’s core multi asset strategy and is a senior member of the Ashburton Asset Allocation Committee. From 1979 to 1988, Nick worked in the Investment Management team at Barclays de Zoete Wedd, firstly as an investment analyst and then as a pension fund manager. After joining Ashburton, Nick ran the highly successful International Equity Fund for many years before taking on responsibility for the entire Ashburton investment team. Nick is also a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

    Dr Vladimir Nedeljkovic is the Head of Fund Solutions at Ashburton Investments. His responsibilities include outcomes based solutions, multi management and indexation and index based products. Vladimir has played a key role in the development of exchange-traded funds market in South Africa, as well as in the development of several pioneering investment products in the South African and African markets. His qualifications include a BSc (Hons) in in Electrical Engineering from the University of Belgrade, as well as a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the same institution. In 1996 he received a Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Applied Mathematics at the University of the Witwatersrand and in 2002 he completed an MBA from Wits Business School. In 2009, he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree (with distinction) in Psychology at the University of the Witwatersrand.

    Jeff McCarthy is Head of Product Development at Ashburton Investments and is responsible for product development and strategy for the company’s global product suite. Jeff joined the FirstRand Group in 2011 with 14 years' of international experience in investment banking and asset management. Jeff has previously worked for companies such as Deutsche Bank, Dresdner Kleinwort, Barclays Global Investors and Fidelity. He holds a BBusSc in Business Finance from the University of Cape Town and an MBA from the University of Cape Town's Graduate School of Business and London Business School.

    Batsile Ngomane is Head of Product Development of Traditional Solutions at Ashburton Investments. She joined Ashburton Investments in 2013 and has over 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry. Batsile completed her articles at Absa in 2002 through the Absa TOPP programme. After completing her articles, she worked in different roles within Absa Capital in both the middle office and front office. It was during her time at Absa Capital where she gained extensive product development and distribution experience, and she was part of the team that built the largest ETF business by AUM in South Africa. Batsile was instrumental in enabling the introduction of ETFs in Botswana, Nigeria, Ghana and Mauritius in her time at Absa Capital. She holds a PGDM (Financial Accounting) from University of Cape Town and a BCom (Hons) in Accounting from University of KwaZulu-Natal. 

    Caryn Nicola is the Chief Operating Officer of Ashburton Investments and is responsible for the operating platforms of the investment management business. Caryn joined the FirstRand Group in 2003 and has 16 years’ experience in the finance industry. Prior to this, she spent six years in the equities division of RMB, where she was responsible for the offshore operating platform. Before this, Caryn spent three years with Gensec (now SCM), heading up the equity derivatives middle office. Caryn is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and completed her articles with Ernst & Young.

    Richard Pampel is Chief Financial Officer of Ashburton Investments, a position he has held since 2012. He has more than 16 years' experience in financial services, including investment banking, insurance, asset management and private equity. Richard joined the FirstRand Group in 2006 as an Executive Assistant to Johan Burger, the current Group CEO. In 2008, he was appointed to head up the Strategic Performance Management team within RMB, reporting directly into the Chief Risk Officer and the Chief Financial Officer. Prior to this, he completed his articles at PricewaterhouseCoopers and was a Senior Manager up until joining the FirstRand Group. Richard has a BCom (Hons) in Accounting from the University of the Witwatersrand and is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.

    Joseph Pieterse is responsible for the Investor Platform. He joined Ashburton Investments in March 2013 and has over 22 years’ experience in the finance industry. Prior to this, Joseph joined Momentum in 1996 where he gained extensive experience in the link-investment industry. In 1999 Joseph relocated to London to establish an international link-investment operation and later also set up an international insurance and international Unit Trust (Manco) businesses operating out of Guernsey in the Channel Islands. Joseph holds a MCom degree in Business Management from the University of Johannesburg.

    Paolo Senatore is the Chief Investment Officer of Ashburton Investments. Paolo has 22 years’ industry experience and began his career in 1995 when he joined RMB, gaining exposure to a number of areas within the bank. Paolo holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand.

    Nicholas Taylor is the Chief Financial Officer of Ashburton International and a Director of Ashburton Investments International Holdings Limited and Ashburton (Jersey) Limited. He joined Ashburton in 1994 and has over 30 years’ experience in the finance industry. Nicholas joined Coopers & Lybrand in Jersey in 1981 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1984. Following secondments to their London and Nairobi offices, he returned to Coopers & Lybrand in Jersey in 1988 as a Managing Consultant and helped establish their consulting practice. Nicholas graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

    Swati Jain is Head of International Distribution - Traditional Investments and is responsible for driving the distribution strategy in UK and Channel Islands, Europe, Middle East and Asia. She joined Ashburton in 2014 and has more than 10 years of experience in the financial services industry, having previously held positions at IIFL Wealth, BECO Private Equity, Kotak Mahindra and HSBC Asset Management. Swati completed her Bachelors in Arts (Economics) from Delhi University and Master’s in Business Management from Management Development Institute.  

    Adriaan van der Merwe is the head of Ashburton Retail Distribution South Africa. He is responsible for a team of Business Development Managers at Ashburton Investments that is responsible for sales, marketing and distribution of Ashburton Investments’ local as well as international investment solutions. Adriaan joined the company in 2012 and has over 24 years’ experience in the finance industry. Prior to joining the FirstRand Group he was employed by Old Mutual Fairbairn Capital for 11 years and was responsible for maintaining and growing relationships with strategic investment partners. He holds a BSc (Hons) degree from the University of Stellenbosch and is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP™).

    Tim Diack heads up the international distribution of the alternative product range, covering the UK, Europe, Middle East and the United States. He joined Rand Merchant Bank’s Debt Capital Markets team in 2008 and subsequently moved to Ashburton Investments. He has over 18 years’ experience in financial services having held positions at Liberty Life, Nedbank and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He holds a BCom degree in Law, an LLB and a postgraduate diploma in Taxation.

    Craig Farley is a Fund Manager at Ashburton. He joined the company in 2003 after graduating from the University of Reading with an upper second class degree in Business and Management. Having initially worked on the Americas Fund, Craig moved to the Asia desk in August 2005 to work alongside Jonathan Schiessl in managing Asian equities. Principal responsibilities now include lead manager for the Chindia Fund and co manager of the India Equity Opportunities Fund, which was launched in September 2012.  Craig is currently undertaking a Masters in Finance and Investment Management at the London School of Business and Finance, specializing in quantitative statistics. The Chindia Fund recently won two of South Africa's Raging Bull 2016 accolades for top investment performance.

    Jonathan Aldrich-Blake is an Investment Manager in the Global Equities team. He covers the technology and telecoms sectors as well as working on the energy fund. Jonathan joined Ashburton in 2005 and has 12 years’ experience in the investment industry. He graduated from the University of Exeter with a BSc (Hons) in Engineering and holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC), the Securities Institute Diploma and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments. He is currently studying towards the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) qualification.

    Luke Gale is the principle dealer within the investment team and is responsible for all execution and trading. Luke is also provides technical analysis research to the investment department advising on market timing of trades along with risk management. Luke joined Ashburton in 2003 and has 12 years’ experience in the investment industry. He attained his PhD in engineering in 2003 and was awarded full membership to the Market Technicians Association in 2007, having gained the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) qualification. He holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC), the ACI Financial Markets Diploma (ACI dip) and is a full member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (MCISI).

    Nick Skiming is a Portfolio Manager in Ashburton’s Portfolio Management team. Nick joined Ashburton in 2002 and has over 28 years’ experience in the investment industry. Until recently, Nick was Ashburton’s Americas Equity Specialist, for which he gained recognition and a number of accolades over 10 years. The early part of Nick’s investment career was dedicated to providing investment management services to high net worth private clients and institutions in both a Discretionary and Advisory capacity, on behalf of Barclays, Quilter Investment Management and Collins Stewart Asset Management. Nick attained the Securities Institute Diploma in 1992, and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (FCSI). He also holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and the Chartered Wealth Manager designation. 

    Richard Robinson is the Fund Manager with responsibility for the Ashburton Global Energy Fund.  He joined Ashburton in 2000 and has 16 years’ experience in the investment industry. Richard graduated from Cardiff University in 1996, he then worked for Abbey National Stockbrokers in London and Jersey before joining Ashburton in 2000. Richard is a Member of the Securities Institute and holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and the Securities Institute Diploma.
    Richard began his Ashburton career as an assistant on the Ashburton European Equity Fund becoming Lead Fund Manager of the European Equity Fund from 2007 to   April 2014. Richard was one of the architects for the move from a regional to a sectoral investment model, a factor in making the Ashburton European Equity Fund one of the top performing European funds of the last decade. Richard successfully launched the Ashburton Global Energy Fund in 2013.

    Simon Finch is a fund manager of the India Equity Opportunities Fund. Finch joined Ashburton in 2007 and has 15 years’ experience in the finance industry. Qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2004, and becoming a Fellow in 2014, Finch also holds the IMC designation as well as a BA (Hons) in Finance from the Nottingham Business School. Finch also assists on the management of the Chindia Equity Fund, now in its ninth year.

    Veronika Pechlaner is an Portfolio Manager in the Portfolio Management team at Ashburton and plays an integral role in the global asset allocation and equity investment process. She has held direct responsibility for the Global Leaders Equity strategy together with Nick Lee, Director of Portfolio Services, since it was initiated as segregated portfolio in May 2011 and as UCITS approved fund in September 2013. Prior to joining Ashburton as Investment manager in its European Equities team in early 2008, Veronika worked as Executive Director at Goldman Sachs in London where she started her career in 2001 in Pan European equity research. Veronika has been a CFA charter holder since 2005. She holds a Master degree in Finance and International Management from the University of Innsbruck (Austria, E.U.) and participated in the 1999 exchange program at Tulane University (USA).

    Bharat Batra is an Investment Analyst at Ashburton Investments. Bharat joined in 2012 and has responsibility for multi asset analysis with a focus on alternatives within the Multi Asset team. Prior to Ashburton, he/she worked at Accenture and most recently at FirstRand Group as an Actuarial Auditor focussing on market risk modelling.

    Bharat graduated from University of Cape Town, with a BBusSci in Actuarial Science. He holds the CFA and member of the CFA Institute and Institute of Actuaries.

    Samed Hysa is a Junior Macro Analyst at Ashburton Investments. Samed joined in 2016 with responsibility for analysing developed and emerging markets across all asset classes. His role also involves developing broader macro-related research for the multi asset team. While at university he interned at Amplify Trading and HSBC Global Banking and Markets.

     Samed graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London, with a BSc Economics.

    Shane De La Haye is a Trainee Fund Manager at Ashburton Investments with responsibility for assisting valuations, stock research and assisting fund managers within the Jersey investment team. Shane joined Ashburton in 2015 and has two years experience in the finance industry. Prior to joining Ashburton, he worked at Bedell Cristin as an Assistant Trust Advisor focussing on trust administration.

    Shane graduated from Jersey International Business School with a BSc (Hons) in International Financial Services. He holds the Investment Management Certificate and is currently studying the Chartered Financial Analyst programme.

    Jianzhong “Jack” Ren is a Fixed Income Credit Analyst at Ashburton Investments. Jack joined in 2016 with responsibility for macro and fixed income analysis in developed, emerging and frontier markets within the multi asset team. Prior to Ashburton, he worked at KPMG, Societe Generale, Arete Research and most recently at Caxton Associates as a Junior Portfolio Manager focussed on corporate analysis.

    Jack graduated from University of Electronic Science and Technology, Beijing, with a BSc Mathematics. He holds a Masters in Finance from the London Business School.
